WHAT HAS BEEN SAID:
Lyndsey said it was "fresh 'n' funky", "blue-eyed soul", with a "Harder to Breathe" Maroon 5 feel, complete with "another big, bold chorus smack dab in the middle of this splashy production." She calls it a "hit" and notes that it's one of her favorites. [Source: Album Preview 10/21]

My Predictions:
I'm unfamiliar with blue-eyed soul, but I assume it's a lot like bluegrass. I think "Can't Stay Away" will rely heavily on a twangy banjo and a couple rapid-fire fiddles to keep it an uptempo club banger. I expect 50 Cent to introduce each verse with "we gonna have a party like it's your birthday."

Or, if that doesn't turn out to be true, I think this is gonna be one of my favorites. I was really excited about the Elizondo collabs before and hearing about it actually having soul just has cranked that up. And I have no idea what the actual sound is going to be, but the title "Can't Stay Away" reminds me of a lot of really heavy beat-driven rap songs I listen to that are pretty empty lyrically but still just awesome to listen to - sort of like pump-up songs (ala Nas' sample of "Unforgettable", "Can't Forget About You").

I'm really psyched about this one, too. I think what interests me most is the description of it as "funky," as well as the fact that it is Kris working with the two people he collaborated with on the most songs on the album. Lindy and Mike E. each have 3 songs co-written with Kris, all with a different third co-writer. I just get the feeling that Kris really clicked with both of these people, and so, I feel really good about what a collaboration among the three of them might have produced.

Based on the 1:30 or so we've heard, I LOVE IT. Also, I just wanted to share this -- dolphinluva8 on ontd_ai came up with what the lyrics sounded like to her from that one video:

I SEE YOUR CLOTHES GET OVER HERE
DON'T GET AWAY
I SEE YOU LEFT YOU GOT A BROKEN HEART
SOON YOU'LL BE A MAN
I TRIED ON MONDAY TO SCORE
BOY YOU KNOW THAT YOU KNOW
YOU BRING ME DOWN
EVERYBODY LEG BOOM
WITHOUT A SOUND
I CURSE THE NAME OF A MONSOON
I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU DID TO ME
BUT I DON'T CARE CUZ YOU GOT TO STAY
NO MATTER WHAT YOU
I CAN'T STAY AWAY FROM YOU (OOH WOAH OH, OOH WOAH OH)
I CAN'T STAY AWAY FROM YOU (OOH WOAH OH, OOH WOAH OH)
YOUR LIPS ON YOUR MOUTH
THE WAY YOU MAKE ME FEEL
I DON'T KNOW WHO TO BLAME
FACE IT, MY HEART IS SUDDENLY ILL (EEL? IDK)
OH BABY I'M TO BLAME
I KNOW THE STEPS TO TONIGHT
THEY-

I am laughing so hard I can't breathe. "Everybody leg boom"? DYING.

dying of laughter

I was hoping someone would try this, but I never expected it to be quite so priceless.

I am wondering how one leg booms without a sound. Maybe Kris will explain it in the second verse.

From what I heard, this sounds really good. I like the funky feel of the song, and I think this is one of those songs that Kris will really throw himself into when he performs it.

My actual attempt at deciphering the lyrics. I want to see how far off I am when we get HQ videos.

I see you girl walkin' over here
Down(?) through the way
I see you left a trail of broken hearts on your way to me

I tried (mumblemumblemumble)
But I know that you know

You bring me down
Everytime she makes a move
Without a sound
Girl you make me come unglued
I don't know what you did to me
But I don't care what you got to say
It don't matter what you do
I can't stay away from you

There's songs about the way you make me feel
(mumblemumblemumble)

I still can't tell if he's saying "bring me down" or "break me down."

I'm so in love with this song! Lindy Robbins and Mike Elizondo FTW!!!
"I was freaking out when I saw that"

"But in the end, I get to do exactly what I like to do, and that's make music. That's what makes me happy. That's the thing that has always driven me."

Okay, so I broke down and listened to the whole song on Youtube. And I looooooove it! Funky and really, really showcases his voice. My only teeny nitpick was that the backup vocals weren't the greatest, but they can work on that~
