I'm excited for the mad professor song! (I have this mental picture of Eg White as sort of a Christopher Walken/Christopher Lloyd sort of character).

That was one of the best stories ever from Kris. A tiny basement, throwing around instruments that don't work, microphones.... I wonder if Kris laughed out loud or what.

I'm looking forward to this one as well. Eg White seems like quite the character, and his resume is impeccable. It sounds like Kris loved working with him, too.

WHAT HAS BEEN SAID:
Lyndsey said it is a "heartland-soft-rocking" ballad with an "emotional vocal that is reminiscent of his breakthrough "Ain't No Sunshine" performance." [Source: Album Preview 10/21]

My prediction:
Lyndsey said people would be compelled to do The Wave because its piano instrumental is surprisingly similar to "Under The Sea". Lyrically, Kris discusses the problems he faced as he attempted to lead his cheerleading squad to Nationals as team captain against a rival inner-city squad (for the ninth time, hence the "back").

Again, I'm hoping the vocal isn't the only thing reminiscent of "Ain't No Sunshine" and praying for another piano ballad. I reaaalllyyy like piano ballads, especially Kris'. If this is anything like "On Our Way" I'll be ecstatic, though I'm expecting Eg White to have thoroughly ramped up the innovation of the instrumentation (y'know... more than a sole piano). Title intrigues me as well, but I have no idea what it could be referring to.

The one song (or snippet of a song) that has been going through my head today is "Bring it back, bring it back . . . " That song sounds so sad (in a good way).

This song sounds beautiful. I posted on TWoP that I love when Kris sings songs like this, because there is always a tone of hope in his voice, even though the lyrics are sad. I think this song could be a radio hit, but Jive may be afraid to release a slow song.

I think a slow song could be released but it's not good to do it as a lead single. Maybe not even his second single. But from the snippet I could see this as a potential hit too.

Agreed, Lene. I think it'd be a great third single, provided -- and this is a biggie -- that his first two do well. It makes me think of the Fray's "Never Say Never." I love that song, but if a new artist did it, it wouldn't have a prayer on radio. People only gave it a chance because... well, 'cause it's the Fray.

I'm loving this clip so far! It's been bugging me for awhile now what it reminds me of and I finally thought of it: Keane's Somewhere Only We Know. Or am the only one who hears that?
