These will all be mashed together in one thread for now. Unless the Mat Kearney one makes it. Then I will create that song it's own website.

So, the bonus tracks we know about are Heartless (which is a bonus on all copies), and Send Me All Your Angels, which is the Wal-Mart exclusive bonus track. We know Salaam Remi produced the new recording of Heartless, but nothing about who wrote or produced SMAYA.

Does anyone else envision the final scene of Pay It Forward when they read that title? I know the song in that scene is "Calling All Angels," but yeah. The song title makes me a little .....

Not gonna lie, it sounds far too Jesus Take the Wheel to me (and not because I'm allergic to religion - just schmaltz). Hope I'm wrong!

I would support this endeavor. I need that song in my life.

And if SMAYA turns out to be religious in any way, I think a lot of people are going to be less than thrilled. I DO NOT want it sound like Jesus Take The Wheel (not a fan of that song) but I wouldn't mind something that sounds like the "Tower" or "God of This City" recordings we have. I haven't been to church in years but I still listen to those all the time just to hear the passion in his voice when he sings them.

ETA: Should have clarified: when I say a lot of people, I mean a lot of people in the AI bubble. Which probably won't have that much of an effect on anything, but a lot of people around the bubble are uncomfortable when Kris' religion is referred to in any way. Some of them have a hard time watching the youtube video so it's going to be interesting to see how outraged some people end up - and how many claim he's trying to "push his religion" on them if it turns out to be even a vague reference to religion.

But even if that does happen, I, myself, will probably greatly enjoy the song. For me, there's something beautiful about watching Kris sing those types of songs.

I love the Tower song. I may be biased because it's one of my favorites and a worship leader at my church wrote it.

It had not even occurred to me that Send Me Your Angels would be religious in any way, other than the obvious spirituality of the angels reference. Hmmm.

I will worship the Kris/Kearney song if it makes it as a Bonus track. Please @God.

ETA: I heard a rumor that the "Angels" song was removed from the Amazon tracklisting...did I make that up in my sleep?

ETA2: Re, Wynter--I'm crazy and/or dreaming about tracklistings.

Yeah that's something that bothers me as well...for the main reason that we're not all the same religion but I always got the impression that while Kris has his own faith, he won't push it on anyone else. So maybe it's something completely different. We don't know who wrote it yet. Do we?

But I too thought of "Calling All Angels" (blech song) when I heard the title as well. It took me a whole day of stressing that it was THAT song to realize...different title. So I'll whew about that, but hope it's not about religion.

I don't think that Jive or Kris would release an overtly religious song, mainly out of fear that Kris would be labeled as a Christian artist. The group that Kris mentioned a few months ago Mutemath, actually took their label to court, because the label went against a clause in their contract and tried to market them as a Christian group. I doubt that Kris, or Mutemath, is ashamed of their faith, it's just hard to break that label once people put it on you. And, since Kris is a new artist, I don't think that Jive will do anything to muddy the way that people see him.

Or, I could be wrong, and the song could be very religious. :P , that would be the type of thing that would do well at Walmart.

I just checked and it's still there on the Walmart listing.
